Sound Set for Sequential PROPHET 6

100% PURE ANALOG SOUNDSET

All patches are presented RAW, with effects turned OFF. The patches still have optional pre-programmed effects, and you can simply choose to activate them or play the patches in their original raw form.

This way, you have access to two alternative sounds for each preset: one raw, and one with effects.

Why bypassing effects per default? 

The effects are practical and interesting, but the raw tone definitely becomes more ‘digital’ once they are activated: there is a slight loss of definition and impact. The differences are very tiny, but it made sense for this soundbank to achieve the nicest and most varied raw timbres by staying 100% analog. This is how the Prophet 6 can achieve the most authentic vintage tones.

However, quite a lot of time was invested to still program the most appropriate effects for each preset: Various delays, reverbs, chorus, flangers and phasers were used according to the character and properties of each patch. Synced settings for delays or modulation also offer instant inspiration when combined with sequences or the arpeggiator. Make sure you try the pre-programmed effects and see which version you prefer :)

VINTAGE KNOB

The sound set uses this new function. All presets have various settings of Vintage Knob according to the desired effect. The sound set works with firmware v1.6.3+., and the Vintage knob function must be turned on. (Press Bank + Global, press 4, click ‘YES’)

The subtle random variations of the Vintage Knob really improve the realism and organic feeling of some of the acoustic emulation presets. 

The Vintage Knob function also helps achieve interesting and authentic raw analog tones for retro synth patches and effects in this soundbank.

CLEVER GAIN STAGING

A lot of presets use lower oscillator volumes and low settings for the ENV AMOUNT, in order to achieve a more refined, lively, and organic sound.

This programming technique offers several advantages: first of all, the Prophet 6 sounds less constrained and more alive, and the overall tone is more ‘vintage’. Also, the AMP modulation options for the ModWheel and Aftertouch have an increase in range. Finally, it is easier to plug the synth into effect pedals and external effect units without distorting their inputs.

The relative volume of each patch has been adjusted and is very consistent when you switch presets within the bank.

DISTORTION

A lot of presets achieve an authentic retro timbre with rich saturation coming from the DISTORTION circuit.

Quite often, only a very subtle amount of distortion is used, and you won’t notice any ‘distortion break-up’ but rather a richer and warmer timbre. Using tiny amounts of distortion tames the high frequencies, and makes many sounds more solid within the context of a mix.

MIX-READY PRESETS

A lot of sounds may not seem spectacular on their own, but they will integrate perfectly into a mix and can be easily layered or double-tracked for rich synth parts with plenty of vibe and unique timbres.

Most sounds can also be combined together very well to create great synth arrangements, without cluster or fighting for space in the mix. Record the sounds raw to get 100% analog richness in your productions, and use your favorite effects afterward for best results.

Five SYS EX files are included so you can choose which User Bank will be used for this soundset.

The presets are organized according to their category, in a clever and practical way, just like old-school soundbanks or modern Romplers.

It will be easy to remember the organization of the patches and will help to find the appropriate sounds when you’re making music.
