The library features two lovely tambourines, each with its sound and character:

HEADLESS RHYTHM TECH TAMBOURINE

A versatile and agile tambourine, with a double row of nickel jingles that provide a rich and lively sound. This tambourine has been a personal favorite for recording sessions, thanks to its versatility and controlled sound.

 

VINTAGE LUDWIG TAMBOURINE

A wonderful and highly expressive tambourine from the 70s, with authentic Goat Skin and two rows of steel jingles. Perfect for gospel and old-school funk grooves!

 
 

Three main style preset

Each style preset comes with its own set of built-in rhythms, a different sonic character, and a different playing response:

FUNK - GOSPEL

Inspired by Motown, and church tambourine players, this preset features inspiring double-time rhythms, and fiery funk grooves: FUN!

 

POP - ROCK

With an extended set of straight 8th and 16th rhythms, this preset is very useful and suitable for many styles!

 

ORCHESTRAL

Designed specifically for orchestral music, this preset merges and synchronises the two tambourines into one harmonious, dynamic, and richly textured instrument.

It also features 2 bonus articulations (bass strokes, finger rolls)

 
 

Two microphone perspectives

For each tambourine, the built-in mixer lets you choose the volume and panning of two very different microphone perspectives. Each microphone channel also provides three quick, handy, and powerful channel effects: A high-pass filter, an alternative EQ, and a ‘retro’ effect. You will find it quick and intuitive to perfectly fit the tambourines in your mix!

The two microphone perspectives are:

MONO: an AKG C480B with CK63 hypercardioid capsule. Dry, focused and detailed sound.

AB: a classy pair of Schoeps MK2H omni microphones in an AB set-up. Wide, airy, and balanced, with a beautiful and realistic 3D sound.

C: main left swing, D: main right swing, E: tight L&R swing, F: soft open L&R swing

Headless RhythmTech Tambourine: C#: vertical stroke 1, D#: vertical stroke 2, F#: horizontal stroke, G#: frame side stroke, A#: chest stroke

Vintage Ludwig Tambourine: C#: vertical stroke, D#: open hand stroke, F#: horizontal stroke , G#: frame side stroke, A#: fingers stroke

AUTOMATIC SHAKE ROLL

B: Press and hold the yellow key to start a shake roll, and use the mod wheel to control the intensity. For maximum realism, start and end the shake roll with a hit.

EXTRA KEYS (G and A)

Funk/Gospel and Pop/Rock presets: ‘Magic’ variations. G: ‘magic’ hits, A: ‘magic’ soft hits

Orchestral preset: G: bass hit, A: automatic finger roll.

 

BUILT-IN GROOVES (C4 to B4)

All instruments feature 12 tempo-synced built-in grooves to create highly realistic and lively tambourine parts. The grooves come in 4/4 metric, and an alternative 6/8 metric preset is included.

Use your modulation wheel to perform live groove variations, fills, and repetitions on the spot!

PROCESSED ACCENTS PRESET

This handy preset offers instant access to 49 processed tambourine hits and strokes: these sounds are perfect to use instead of or layered on top of a snare drum for extra power in a song. 

For practical uses, the samples are organized in categories, from left to right:

  • Drier and shorter tambourine hits

  • Longer (open ringing) tambourine strokes

  • Long reverb tambourine hits

  • Powerful tambourine accents

  • Retro tambourine hits

Several multi instruments (Kontakt nkm) combine different presets and grooves to create stunning tambourine duos!

The two separate reverbs let you go from a totally dry sound to a very spacious and lively sound: The insert reverb is placed before other effects while the send reverb comes after all effects.
