A note from the developer:

During the development of the recently released MAGIC AFRICAN DRUMS, I listened to tons of African music, and got especially inspired by the fantastic soundtracks of the two Marvel movies Black Panther and Wakanda Forever: I loved the combinations of traditional drumming and modern 808 beats so much that I started developing a set of beta instruments with mixed layers of acoustic percussions and electronic drums. These instruments and ensembles were very promising but didn’t really fit in the concept of MAGIC AFRICAN DRUMS, and therefore I did not include them in the last library.

But this didn’t stop me from working on the concept! I had many leftover percussion samples from the recording sessions to choose from, and I also started to work on a new set of processed TR-808 samples using top studio gear.

Pretty soon, I ended up with a great little collection of hybrid percussions, drum kits, crunchy melodic 808 bass, and even a talking-drum model based on layers of 808 bass drum and African percussions! Originally, all these sounds were created for my own use, but they simply are too good not to be shared! :)

MAIN KIT

This is the real deal! This kit lets you play 63 sounds, with beautifully processed TR-808 samples, raw African percussions, and unique combinations of hybrid drums! This instrument is perfect for finger drumming and for quickly finding the right sound for your production.

The sounds are organised in 6 categories, and each category has its own volume knob and effect chain. The main kit features tempo-synced grooves, and comes in two alternative versions: a 6/8 and a 4/4 metrics.

GM DRUM KITS

6 practical drum kits are also included. They offer instant inspiration with a clever selection of sounds from the main kit. They closely follow the standard GM drum mapping, and feature 12 sounds:

  • one kick, one snare, one cross-stick and one clap

  • three percussions

  • two hi-hats

  • three toms

These GM drum kits also come with 6/8 and 4/4 grooves, and can easily be combined to create jaw-dropping beats!

HYBRID TALKING DRUM

This instrument is a talking drum model based on layers of African percussions and 808 kicks.

It follows the same keyboard mapping, groove functions and script as the African Talking Drums available in MAGIC AFRICAN DRUMS.

This is an innovative, expressive and powerful instrument that can bring a wonderful drive and energy to any track!

808 BASS

Play typical 808 bass lines over three octaves with this practical instrument! The multiple stages of saturation, compression, and limiting offer many flavours of 808 bass sounds, from super clean to wildly distorted. It’s easy to add juicy harmonics and get the 808 to feel huge in your tracks! Perfect for Trap, Hip-Hop, RnB, and modern African music!

RHYTHMS AND VARIATIONS

Instantly create drum arrangements with your mod wheel!

All kits offer 12 tempo-synced rhythms and fill-ins.. Simply press the ‘GROOVES’ tab to access the sequencer.

Use your mod wheel to instantly create beat variations, repetitions and fill-ins: super fun!

For all instruments in 6/8 metrics, you can use the ‘Timing’ knob to morph between 6/8 and 4/4 and achieve a unique rhythmic feeling.

MULTIPLE STAGES OF EFFECTS

Access all samples in their raw and pure version or explore a huge variety of processed sounds! A lot of taste, love, and world-class studio hardware were used to create these unique 808 and percussion samples. And the built-in effects let you take these samples to another level, and create your own signature sound :)

The signal chain uses multiple stages of saturation, compression, and convolution reverb for maximum flexibility:

Channel volume -> channel effect chain -> distortion and overdrive -> stereo width -> saturation -> limiter -> master reverb send

Using only a few intuitive and powerful controls, it’s easy to achieve a wide range of sound that will bring impact and energy to any track!
